As Hayden mentioned, for the upper Lea, 1.75 is as heavy as you'll need. Even. 1.5 may suffice. Look at the Korumm All-rounder. At £50 it's a lovely rod for the money.
It's been tough over the last week I also thought that with this first bit of a flush, that it would go. Wrong.
The river was carrying loads of debris and I guess a load of crap off of the roads. I struggled today and yesterday.
More rain please, to clean it out properly.
I'm also noticed...
This has been my moto for some years now. A truly balanced fishery minus the usual fill-it-in with carp, is like hens teeth now. Btw, you need a few pike and perch to keep it fully in balance. ;)
Yep I agree Richard, there isn't an edit. From bringing it to the net and onto the mat, it's a smooth transition with the filming. A nod was given to the care of the fist on it's return. The code was well established at this point, as I was adhering to it myself even before this film was shot.

I've been re--watching and catching up with some I've missed I've missed.
This morning I've been enjoying Episode 5, Going Against The Flow, following the Hants Avon from upstream of Salisbury, down to the sea. To my displeasure I've just seen Pete Reading (Barbel Society) catch a beautiful...
All barbel coming from clear waters carry the same colouration Joe, and if they don't live on a diet of boilies and pellets, they'll mostly be long and lean. Btw, this is a Dove fish. ;)
Exactly. My favourite/special fish wasn't my PB, it was the fish I used to catch on the BA at Kellaways, trotting maggot or caster. I had quite a few like that and I can confirm, a barbel caught on a trotted bait will always be more special than one caught on a static one. :)
Why? Any river with a low stock that gives up one of it's barbels is special. There seems to be a bit of snobbery about Hants Avon fish, why?
I'll tell you what, just compare the Hants Avon river report page to the Great Ouse page and you'll see that an Ouse fish is more special than an Avon...
