Network Rail doing the same. When a Channel 4 TV camera is pointed at the NR Chainsaw merchants...they stop! The Company should be prosecuted as they know all too well what they are doing. 2 miles of Thames vandalism

You need to get in touch with 'Natural England' and report it... and see what they have to say. I'm sure that any destructive work like this would have had to be done by the end of February (possibly by law) and NE should have investigated before the work was carried out..and NE permission...

Sorry...Changed the colour back on all the posts. Tony...It was/is 95% but it allows/allowed polluters to get away with it 5 times a year or more without any enforcement or prosecution, unless there is a fish kill and they get caught out. With no one checking the discharge data, water and...

You need to do some research yourself David. Some discharges are logged on STW computers, but only once a month or at intervals or at random, as used to be the case. The data was then directed to the EA computers also to where the public could gain print outs of the data over the past year or...

Not exactly true...When they abstract and treat water for human consumption, the removed industrial waste products, heavy metals, pesticide residues, pathogens etc, which are filtered via sand or other, are flushed 'back' into the river from whence they came.... and in a more concentrated form...

Rivers may look clean when gin clear Ian , but i can assure you.. they are not..and still full of poisons, carcinogins, synthetic hormones and other nasties! Dare you to drink some neat from the river with no treatment and removal of the invisible substances present:)

Yeah true ..but that's why the EA keep re-stocking rivers just before the last remaining generation dies out... without breeding.:)
  9. Ray Walton

    Fined

Agreed..as with other breeding wildlife on the riverbank areas.:) Even the canoeists etc will want to join in too!

If you consider also that the EA kill most of the fish eggs laid, and fry if any eggs manage to survive, on rivers where they weedcut and clean gravels(dredge and scrape the riverbed) each year; in the close season, then through the summer and autumn, then you realise why river fish stocks are...

One Reason..8,000-10,000 barbel eggs laying on your unhooking mat or dripping eggs or milt! Probably a whole year class and generation lost because of idiots!

Nigel...You can usually set the self timer as usual and use the infra red remote to set it off, giving plenty time to get ready, without putting the fish down and coming back and forth to the camera. Justin...is 'one spot' your 16.2 or another resident?:)

It does look like the camera of that high spec should not be able to produce lower quality images. Seems it is on a wrong setting and producing 'Bitmap' like photos/images to where the high definition and resolution is being lost, or maybe in the way they are downloaded to the computer, possibly...

Nigel...Not sure of your version of the camera you have, but it does seem to have a 'remote' accessory that you can buy as an extra. That would make it a lot easier for you, or of course if not, get a friend out to take the pictures for you, especially with the calibre of fish you are catching...

    Fish Stocking at Penton Hook

Hi Ian..I remember fishing Penton Hook back in the late 80's when we were doing research into the health of barbel linked with water quality on different rivers. My mate caught a couple of barbel from below the weir back then and lets say they didn't seem to be in that good condition and were...

Lars...Try a 1inch chunk of Spam in winter or flood conditions. No baiting up at all needed if you know where the fish are.:)

If the Mole fish is wrongly titled, it needs to be changed on the main voting list as there is no Warks Avon fish listed. Start again?

    Fish Stocking at Penton Hook

Love the TAC work and does sound great, but the question must be asked as to why it needs re-stocking, when it is a “great habitat for young barbel, dace and chub”! Is there a problem with the river in that area and are they not breeding naturally? Re-stocking seems to be happening...
