All I can say is I've noticed a significant difference in my catch rate autumn and winter now I fish maggots! Multiple catches on my local River occasionally that I never had on boilies or pellets once the water cools!
I've changed from 12lb Berkley Big Game recently to 15lb Big Game purely because of the number of snags in the river I fish regularly. Its just a little bit thicker than the 12 but I'm far more confident now!
The only time I can't be bothered or have little motivation is if I've had a really tough day with my lad who is autistic and it drains the motivation from me. But usually when I'm luckily to get the opportunity for an evening session or night session I take it! 😉👌

I treated myself to a trakker levelite longback recliner chair and its very comfortable and surprisingly light! But I use my trakker nano chair for most sessions as it's small and very light 2.2kg!

I picked up a prototype 13 foot rod labeled 'Leeda Epic Barbel' which turned out to be the Wychwood 13 foot Maximizer rod.

Ironically I'm going back to how I used to fish when I first started targeting barbel, fishing one rod but running the line over my fingers so if I get distracted looking at birds ect I can feel the bite!

I still have one of these Diawa Rods, and at 13 foot it was very useful for fishing my local River Ouse as there were many weed beds along the near shelf. So with the extra length you were able to play fish over the weed rather than through it.
