    Thames head dries

It's going to get worse Neil. Thicklizzy will see to that. The last 12 years have been a disaster, and the current lot are to blame. Starmer is Tory-lite, so we are doomed.

    Thames head dries

I don't think having a higher population is the issue. When the water companies were privatised in the early 90's, a whole swathe of investment was promised, a better infrastructure and all that sort of thing. Predictably, that never happened, and just like everything else, the money was given...

    Losing your mojo?

Must admit, I've lost a little of mine, but i fish matches to keep me busy in the summer months. The cost of fuel now is huge negative when decided whether to fish, I prefer short 3/4 hour sessions, which makes it an expensive game now. In winter, I can go 4 or sometimes 5 times in a week...

    Hook length Braid sinking

N-trap soft for me, or the Gardner Ultraskin stuff, both coated.

    Hook choice???

I use the Pallatrax hooks also, previously in 'The Hook' pattern, and now Gripz, which are barbless, but they seem to hold just fine. I've never seen these Claw hooks as Rich mentions, I'll have to check them out.

    Hiking/walking boots

My 8 year old brashers have finally given up, so I'd like another pair that last just as long if i can get some. ANy recommendations for new ones? I prefer a boot in summertime, before switching to Muckboots when the winter mud arrives. John

    Memberships.

I was on 5, but dropped to 4 for this season. Going to concentrate on the Upper Trent this summer I think, with a few mid sevs to break up the blanks. Lower Sev will grab my attention in Autumn time, as always.

    Mr B Fisher

I know a Barry Fisher that lives in Worcs, as already said, i don't think he's ever made floats. He fishes for eels/pike/perch most of the time.

What are your targets for the new season?

A middle Severn 13, and a 15 from anywhere, oh how I'd love one of those.

    Collingham official statement

Never been there, and to be honest, I can't think of a worse place I'd like to fish. Anti-social behaviour on steroids. And probably other drugs.

    Barbel migration

Our very own Shaun Nurse was one of the individuals that drove this, he's the one in the floppy hat in the pic.

    Hooking Maggots for Barbel

I've tried threading them onto bait floss and then tying that to a tiny hair rigged ring. Bloody fiddly though, I think the best option is to stick a bunch of them on a size 10. I suppose a grazing barbel isn't going to be too fussed anyway.

    Derby railway angling club

Wanted to join BMAA last year, but joined Derby. Now the dilemma is do I switch to BMAA for the new season. Decisions, decisions.

    Your first barbel photo

1983, from Quatford on the middle Severn. It was about 3lb I think, and seemed huge at the time.

    Pair of 4000D’s

they won't be on here long. I've got the 6000's, and they're the dogs.

    Bait Dropper

Agreed. I got a spopper last year, very impressed.

    Isotopes

Greenish white best for me. I'm tarty and have some in my rod handles also, same colour.

    Whats your PB?

A 14.13 from the Lower Severn, and just like @Neil Smart experience, also attracted unwanted attention from the BAA forum nutcase! As said though, it's horses for courses, on some rivers, doubles are a LOT harder to catch.

    GR60 Line

It's abrasion resistant for sure, but very springy for me, and liked trying to jump back off the spool when loaded. Back to sensor for me , cheap, cheerful, and it works.
