The Dave Moore ones are very interesting too.

    Custom Torrix ringing.

Just to confuse you, my 11ft 1.75 Torrix has 8 plus tip (also built by MT). It wasn’t built for me but I really like that arrangement. 7 would be fine, but I particularly like having 2 rings on the butt section as I fish with bobbins a lot.

    Washing Your Net

If you want to clean stuff really properly, get hold of some Virkon disinfectant. Available in small sachets from some vets. I fish in Iceland irregularly and they demand all tackle is disinfected before you go and you have to have paperwork to prove it. Or they do it when you arrive. Lucky...

    Tench 2024

Well done, more successful than me ! I’ve done 2 short tench sessions this week with no sign of fish or better still a bite. Just checked my diaries and that is my first proper tench fishing since 2008 !

    Making your own bait.

Exactly right. I’m about to start tench fishing and I know my bait (the boilie mentioned above) catches lots of tench and carp - so if I put it in the right place I will catch some. If I design a new bait, my naturally negative mind set will tell me it’s no good when I blank (regardless of the...

    Making your own bait.

There is also the issue of how you apply the bait and how quickly the fish will start to eat it…. If you hardly ever use boilies, then IMO there is little point in using a very expensive, bespoke (eg JB) base/flavour combo that is designed as a food source. These baits are conceived as long...

Can anyone help me out. Daiwa rod bag.

Do let me know if 53” will do; otherwise I have no issues getting the other one back. I have about 25 old rod bags kicking around - so can easily swap it…… PS a 13ft 3 piece Daiwa AW light float rod is the same length as the feeder rod bag….

    Making your own bait.

I made my own bait for years and am mates with several people who know a great deal about bait (including JB). These days the only bait I make myself is chub paste in 1 egg mixes (from JB). It involves no equipment apart from a bowl and a fine measure ! I use quality boilies bought frozen...

Can anyone help me out. Daiwa rod bag.

Found one. Blue and white as above, decent used condition. Sections are 53.5 “ long. Actually for a feeder rod. Will that do? Otherwise I know where there is a ‘real’ one from a 13ft float rod, but I have given the rod away so will have to do some grovelling to get the bag back ! But...

    Info on shimano bait runners

You don’t get a ‘fighting drag’ on an SS. I’ve used Shimano fighting drag, rear drag reels since the early ‘90’s. Brilliant Stillwater feeder fishing reels and also great for river work with up to about 10lb line. Mostly 5:1 gear ratio.

    Tinca tinca book

If you can’t find a copy; ‘Red eye’ by Mick Cutler is very good and very up to date. I own both and they are both excellent.

    RDAA River Kennet

I bought one last season including nights after June 16th. It’s only the serious carp/tench tickets that sell out early.

    Hooking Maggots for Barbel

Frog hair is just ano brand that claims to be thin for its breaking strain. I would choose Stroft in preference or one of the match coarse fishing hooklinks eg N-gauge.

    Hooking Maggots for Barbel

If it is for hairs/threading baits what about fly tieing thread ? All different diameters, colours and materials - some are Kevlar (allegedly) and very strong. I’ve got some very thin braid sold years ago by a company called Big Fish Adventure (the bloke behind it was called Howard Barkley). I...

    Tench 2024

Just google ‘guru underwater 2’ or ‘guru underwater heli’. No 2 is the heli and hybrid feeders. Very very interesting - but they could use some help from a top Stillwater specialist angler who fishes with feeders.

    If you could only have......

Tricast Triaxial 13/15/17 Torrix 11x 1.75 Tunley 11.5 multi tip. I obviously only like rods that start with a ‘T’.
