    1.75 vs 2lb 11ft Torrix

Sorry for the delay in answering but I have used all three in fishing situations and the 1.75 is the sweetest for me and never once let me down or given me any concerns. Something special. I'll leave it at that. Cheers Bob

    1.75 vs 2lb 11ft Torrix

I was told by Harrison years ago that the butt sections differed on the 11' Torrix and how to differentiate between them. However, that was many years ago and things may have changed. Butts as well as tips can be constructed of different carbons. Cheers Bob

    Blanks... of the rod variety

Have the specific blank details somewhere on an old computer. Remember Andy being a bit miffed when PB discontinued them and he had to find a suitable substitute(s) from another manufacturer. Cheers Bob

    Blanks... of the rod variety

Good shout - plenty of power low down when you need it. Got a pair with double tips and really rate them. Prefer these to my 1.5s. Cheers Bob

    Blanks... of the rod variety

Chimera 1 12' 1.5 is a nice rod - there is also the Chimera Avon at 11' 1.25. Will always like the standard 11' Avon 1lb 6oz which is a classic. Cheers Bob

    Blanks... of the rod variety

Yes, lots of choice out there and some good rods - usually cheaper too. As you said the Dave Mason rod was great but got discontinued - one of the hazards when dealing with the 'american' market. Full marks to Andy Sliwa for doing the legwork in finding them. Bought some blanks and made them up...

    Free spirit rod choice?

Great choice at 1.5lb test. Built plenty and reliable (like the 1lb 6oz) Cheers Bob

    Whipped Tip

Hi Rob/All, Isotopes are quite fragile as most are glass and quite thin walled. Around 15 to 20 years ago when I was playing with my 'Isoblob' design, I deliberately minimised the contact length of the isotope with the blank together with additionally stiffening the blank at that point. The use...

    Whipped Tip

Relatively easy to do and you can use other colours. Protected by one coat of rod thread epoxy. May yellow with time but easy to renew. Could also use white thread as a under layer for shrink wrap/isotope. Cheers Bob

    Whipped Tip

Small visual aid with whipping thread.
