For me there’s afew fundamentals.
Everything on my shoulders
Hands, arms and under arms must be kept completely free to allow them to hang and move naturally with my stride.
A chest strap is absolutely crucial for me.
My bag has got to be pulled hard and tight against my back for support of the...
Sweet corn already has a flavour! It’s sweet corn flavour and fish love it. If they are wising up to baits like this, that smell and taste perfect in their natural state, then I’d be more inclined to change the colour or appearance rather than mess with something they already love the taste of.
the rod socks did come with the compact acolyte rods when they were on the scenes. I use the drennan specialist ones a lot which are exactly the same but longer. Brilliant things they are but the Velcro loses its stick quite quickly. I have several sets of them among many other brands and the...
You had a few sessions trotting for barbel this season Simon with some great success and enjoyment.
Those particular areas on the Trent really lend themselves to wading as you know all too well. Why not treat yourself to a centrepin reel just for that activity.
If you thought it was enjoyable...
I didn’t say it was the right one for everyone. I said if you get the right one.
Then I went on to say I like the vass ones.
If you’re not a fan ……. 👍🏻
They ain’t if you get the right one.
Granted some are heavy and awful but , I put mine on which is the vass 175 and it’s so light and movable you don’t even think about it being on.
It’s just keeping you warm and dry in the background.
I like the vass 175 stuff. Had the full winter suit for 3 years now
The impressive thing about it is the weight. My experience with padded winter clothing is that it’s heavy and a lot of it gets heavier when wet.
The vas stuff is incredibly lightweight and water just sits on top of it keeping...
I don’t disagree with any of that Kevin.
Barbels eating habits and mouth shape and form are definitely susceptible to be easily hooked and thank goodness stay hooked.
Again it’s another good reason why we don’t need to evolve what we already have.
Looking at that video Ian put up it appears...
I wouldn’t claim it either but your point is completely well out of context.
Terry if you use hairs for your barbel fishing then you don’t need your mate to strike for you because the rig hooks them perfectly all by itself, Hence 3 ft twitch 😉
My point which obviously wasn’t very clear first...
arms or no arms, this device to a specimen carp angler is no different to a hair rig for a barbel angler. It’s used to hook the fish.
I’ve read comments from people saying they can’t believe it strikes for you. How is that sporting. It’s a step too far…. Then most of us go and sit behind rigs...
If the fish goes through the frame comfortably and safely when landing then it doesn’t really matter after that in terms of how big the frame is.
It’s the depth that’s important for retaining and recovery not the diameter of the frame.
If the net is nice and deep and spacious, it will bulge...
the Only 2 flaws with my day pack are its top opening and doesn’t have a chest strap.
They’ve rectified both those bits on this which is really nice. I have the rucksack and the smaller rucksack too and they are great but for a 3 hour blast in the evening you just don’t need it.
Tackle box, 1...
Haven’t seen that one but it looks very good indeed.
I bought the small day pack some time ago as a little rover bag and yes I like it but i always wished it was the same size but ruckbag style.
£38 I’ll be ordering one of those i reckon cheers
