Nothing terrifying in describing a suitable pattern paul:D, we are talking about Chub and we all know they like a gobfull. And after all in this great age of the t' internet the none fly tying party just clicks on the desired fly and waits for it to arrive;)...

Only just noticed this:o All above is good advice:cool:, however if i was heading out for Perch and Chub there are three flies i would make sure were in the tin. 1) A slow sinking beetle pattern for Chub, i take it you dont tie your own...... yet, but something in the 12s-6s size, black...

Cheers Paul, the fly is in the keeper ring on the rod albeit all bent up and twisted lol. Basically a bleak imitation tied on a 3/0, incredible scrap and a sight that i will never forget, had me shaking for hours!:D Cheers, Graham

Hi Paul, Used to do a lot of beach casting on the channel before i got back into coarse and then fly fishing, not done any this year but it's almost time!;) The big fish can turn up anywhere although usually higher up the channel at the beginning of the season with them spreading further...

My point was that if one has to catch so much in order to have had a good day's fishing then it's missing the point of the the whole fishing experience and probably time to give it up...........To me anyway!:D

George, good luck with the Salmon, it's generally needed:D If you've not caught Bass on the fly before you're on for a treat, if you've ever caught decent Perch you'll find the fight is very similar, great sport if the conditions will allow a light rod!:) Was out on the river again today...
