Trained mine to a picking up standard to the whistle and she was 10 months old. Done properly spaniels are fine.

All good stuff..... If training is done early you can achieve most things... Just the time needed. I had a spaniel that was a superb gun dog...... Was able to be put in a pen and moved a few feet at a time on the whistle...... She was a fab fishing companion also...... Just had to say "leave"...

Hi Joe...... I think the point is that with the removal of the weir the sssi will be affected upstream and potential down too. The weirs historical importance falls under another criteria as you rightly point out. Either way..... it needs to stay. :)

This isn't about just Barbel...it is about the river ecosystem as a whole. With a drop of 1.5m how can that be good for the reaches further upstream..... god forbid it my even affect the otter population too! :) It would appear that those with an intimate knowledge of the river...built up over...

I agree Howard..... Good to see at least there has been a change from the attitude displayed earlier in the debate on here. I would be interesting to see if Pete Reading's attitude has mellowed since a few facts have been unearthed. Time will tell but with luck the BS will support our goal to...
