Afternoon all
I caught this recently and really really hope its a true Rudd, but would like some confirmation to be sure...
The water I caught it from is stuffed with small Roach, I didn't catch any Roach that looked like they had any Rudd in them, and this was the only Rudd I caught. I...
Nice one Jason, I'll be joining KAS this year to help support the good work the club are doing. It would be great if other local clubs could follow this lead, and I'm still hoping they will - I havent heard anything following the NOAS agm yet but I guess thats partly my fault for not chasing...
I do most of my carping on rivers and canals and this is where backleads off the rod tops really come in to their own as boats can be a nightmare, I normally go for plasticine or just a cheapo lead on a paperclip, does the job a good'un :)
I must say my little gardner rocket is brilliant, except when it comes to retrieving it. It's also not very good when you need to get a lot of bait in the swim! Oooooooh me arms :D
Casters are my top tench bait. Being a bit of a skinflint though I try to use as little as possible - I just mix a couple of pints in with my loose feed (pellets, crushed boilies, hemp, corn, wheat, molasses, brown crumb etc etc) then keep a pint or so back for PVA bags/feeders. Can still be...
Dont get me wrong I definitely think he's right to keep it to himself, just I seem to remember him writing in a couple of articles about a 'top secret' lake in Hampshire (I think?) that he was fishing for it's roach and that he was saying he wanted to keep secret, then a few articles later out...
I'm sure it will all come out in the press soon enough, when he's caught everything he wants from the place :D
Willow's not exactly a secret anymore anyway so if it was from there then whats all the fuss about?? Great fish though
Ian, one of the clubs I've been looking at joining this year is RDAA for the Kennet - is the fishing really hard and are all the venues really busy? I don't mind a challenge, but I don't like fishing around loads of other people, much prefer to do my own thing if you get my drift...
Cheers, Nick
I'll actually be joining a couple more local clubs than usual this year, more for what they're doing for my local rivers than for the fishing. And for the fishing, a couple of not-so-local clubs...
Hi Jon, sorry for the late reply. Like Ian, none of my rigs broke at the knot, one of them broke in the fluoro and the rest in the sinkbraid.
And Colin 12lb line is a bit excessive isn't it, but in my defence I was barbel fishing... Not that i managed to catch any!
I've been tying mine recently with 12lb ESP Ghost soft and 12lb sinkbraid using the 5 up 5 down knot, it's been working well catching me a few big chub so I decided to do a throughly un-scientific test on the rig last night and found it broke at around 11.5lb, which is plenty for me!
Lovely fish mate, I just cant seem to break through the 6lb barrier this year, been close though. Either its going to happen tomorrow or thats it for another season!
Thats interesting Jim, what I've found recently is that those annoying plucks and taps have been developing into whacking great bites when using a fairly short hair. What I think is happening is that the chub are plucking at the bait and feeling the resistance of the lead/rod top without getting...
