TFG Centre pin on eBay? Anygood?

If I wanted another pin and my budget was £50, I'd go on Ebay and get a Wide drum Speedia. I already have one and I love it.

    Two words, warm and dry...

I'm not going to fish the Kennet again till we've had some rain. On Upper B theres not enough flow to pull a 1" cube of freelined spam round to the near bank, and I cant get onto lower B early enough to make it worthwhile. We need a week of heavy rain

Gardiner Barbel Pan net (Neil Wayte type)

    Laser Pens

For what its worth, I find on the Kennet that a well directed headtorch beam flicked on and off 4 or 5 times usually stops swans in their tracks once its gone dark. Either that, or the beam illuminates the line, which the swan then spots, and swims round it. (My headlamp is is of the 'beam' type...

    monster barbel mystery river

I'm not sure this is 'new news' Someone told me about the rumour weeks ago. (assuming its the same river...I havnt seen the article)

    Garlic spam at sainsburys

Yup. Its in Sainsburies just off J12 of the M4 (Calcott, Reading) just a few hundred yards from the Kennet.

    Hair stops for meat?

'Stay-put hair riggers' , large size. These are little coils of wire with a loop on the end. Tie one onto the line before then forming a knotless knot . They work perfectly.

    Avon scales

While we are on the subject, has anyone any comments on the accuracy of fox digitals? My barbel pan net weighs 1lb 3oz on a set of 25 year old Avons, but only 1lb on a set of fox digi's. 3oz is quite a difference on a 1lb weight. I tend to trust the Fox's, but I actually havnt verified...

    Polish fisherman

It doesnt matter where they are from, Poland Slovakia, Lithuania, or wherever. They are in our country, and they should abide by our rules. One of my local lakes has a 'Private fishing' sign, and then a bit about not nicking fish in 3 different languages (one of which is Polish). They still...

    Tackle addiction

I've got a mate, who really ought to remain nameless, who has over 120 rods including at least 5 Barders. I consider myself lucky that I've not really been bitten by the bug too badly (albeit with one or two mad moments), but I'm afraid the same can't be said for...

    Barbelon a pin

I dont think there is any hype about pins. There may be over enthusiastic comment from one or two, and of course there will always be folks who try to tell you that if you cant use a pin, you are not a proper angler. Well, fair enough, each to his own opinion. Like a previous poster, I cant...

    Flurocarbon - Braid - Mono

I've been using a combi rig with 2-3 inch of soft-braid on the end of about 15 inches of flouro. I find that the stiffer flouro reduces tangling of the trace round the lead or feeder, and is less visible on the bottom (but as most of my fishing is done in dusk/dark, I doubt that metters), but...

Home Cooked Hemp - How should it look!!

sounds like I'm the only one who doesnt soak it. I just put a couple of pints in a big saucepan, bring it to the boil, then simmer it on a slow rolling boil for about an hour. I then drain it (saving the boiling water) bag it up and if not using it in the next couple of days, freeze it...

    Best centrepin for legering?

I'd echo earlier comments. Wide drum Speedia. Its a dream to play fish on, and the ratchet lever is in exactly the right place to flick it on and off with your thumb. Plus, if you are fishing with 2 rods, you dont go boggle eyed watching 2 tips, just listen for the ratchet on the speedia
