Super strong beaked point hook

I was using one of those when I had to hook and hold and here's the consequence. Hence my request 😃
The ones bottom left are what I’ve been using

Not a chance of bending the wide gape X, they’re super strong. I’ve used them for a few seasons now for both Barbel and Carp. :)
Not quite sure why you want them to bend, they certainly won't bend when attached to anything that swims in our rivers.? I'd rather the hook "straighten" when snagged, so I get all my tackle back, being an astute derbyshire man. 🤣😁

Korum Grapplers for me, come in barbed or barbless. I switched to these at the beginning of this season and I am really impressed with them. Strong and sharp and stay sharp forever. I fish barbless and can honestly say I’ve only had one hook pull all season up to now and I’ve had around 40 barbel as yet and quite a few chub.

Same hook I'm reliably informed 😉
Interesting….the rep in my local apparently said same pattern but heavier gauge, gonna compare the two when I get some. The specimen range is considerably cheaper so hoping your right Lewis

Not the specimen range, they aren't very good IMO, weak wire and the guage is finer and the eyes are a bit off. I tested them a few years ago and didn't like them.

It's the new Barbel Specimen Hooks that are the same as the Talon Tips I'm told.

Thanks

Yep makes sense👍

If you can get away with a size 8 ( the smallest they do ) you could try the Drennan Continental Boillie Hooks. They are brutes !

Meant to say, not sure why you dont want them to bend!

Many thanks for the feedback and comments guys. As always, a wide choice of recommendations!

I have ordered the Wide gape X and KKH to give them a try.

Hi men

Richard they are bomb proof . I was fishing at 70 yds to a really snaggy area fishing locked up and at the sound of one bleep I was walking backwards around 15 steps rapidly to see some very big carp thrash the water then swing away , lots of very heavy pressure , and had no problem .

Im also an avid hook sharpener , even sharpening for friends ( the toolmaker in me ) , and they can be touched up perfect . I had a mate next to me who was not sure but could see the difference happening in front of him, and I was sharpening his rigs all week 👍, game changer in scratching time .

These hooks are worth a look at. They also do an x that is even stronger wire. Owner C-5 Carp Hooks Iseama w/Eye Fishing Hook C5 Black Chrome Straight Eye.
I use 15lbs line with them and they rarely fail

I can’t see it, the target barbel I’m sure is a finer wire hook. Used the wide gape talon tips for years with not one issue. Went out this eve had 4 barbel. First 3 were 2 9lbers and a smaller one hooked and landed fine on the target 10s, 3rd bite was clearly a bigger fish, after a proper scrap it came off, the hook opened out (never had that before with the talon tips) switched back to one of my last remaining talon tips in a 10 and landed the last fish at 12.2 no probs, again proper scrap.
Lost faith already in the target ones now 😕

No fish is going to bend them unless, you're fishing in the Amazon!

I get your point, and I was actually going to say that a downside to the Wide Gape X and other strong hooks is that they won’t bend even with a straight pull on heavy line. However, I’ve had other hooks bend out on fish including a standard wide gape with a good double at Gunthorpe. I landed the fish, but the way the hook had started to open (probably down to the way the fish was hooked, coupled to the brutal flow you have to get them through) made me change to the X.

When it’s not too rocky then I do like the Gardner Mugga, they’re straight pointed and super sharp, never had one open on a fish but they can be with a straight pull on 12lb+ line.
