    which loop knot ?

    Double overhand knot for nearly 50 years, if I'm thinking about it I'll occasionally use the figure 8, but usually my muscle memory is too strong and I've tied the loop before I think about it.

    I got a 15ft Daiwa Speci Float in the spring, used it for Tench waggler fishing, liked it. Gonna use it for Barbel on the Trent for the first time in a couple of weeks.

    I did consider that, but unfortunately it would only be definitive one way. If it fell apart or disintegrated during cooking it would be simple, just bin it, but if it cooked ok and looked ok I'd still have my doubts that it's not stale/bland/tasteless.     I've been given a sack of hemp seed from a buddy but it's 2 years old, it looks fine but I've no idea if it may have lost its appeal. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Quality alarms and a good price but I wouldn't entertain an alarm without a receiver. Volume on the heads turned down to zero with the receiver (in my pocket or hanging from my chair) volume set low and vibrate.
