It's great for finding the perch as well, it's surprising how they stand out in the lamp light. With the carp it saves a lot of wasted hours if the stretch has a low stocking
Chris a good idea would be to find the carp. Go on the canal at night with a powerful lamp and shine it in the water as you walk the bank. The carp will reveal themselves and give you an idea where to start your baiting. Boilies and corn are a fair idea and fish boilie hook baits. The tench will...
The drennan bream and tench feeder rods are excellent tools and very versatile. They will punch a pva stocking out a good distance when bream and tench fishing. I also use them for carp fishing on the surface because of the action they afford.
Dai I believe your right about them, they are...
Tim, I am really glad you had a good trip to the keys, gutted I couldn't come. So much fishing out there in the world and not enough time to get at it all. Catmaster on the Ebro are superb and come highly recommended for everyone.
If anyone is interested John Wilson could well be starting up...
I have fished Adams Mill 3 or 4 times in the past couple of weeks just roaming about with a rod getting a feel for the place and marveling at the fact it used to hold barbel beyond most anglers comprehension.
I had never seen the place before and didn't know what to expect and I must say its...
Broadwater is certainly doing the business this summer and why is probably a mystery?
congratulations must go out to steve ricketts on an absolutely awe inspiring catch.
Gary it must have been wonderful to witness such a fish.
my eel water is rammed with weed this year making eel fishing that...
sorry Nige, I promise to buy half a pint off you the next time I am down ha ha!
I have had some wonderful messages complementing me on my writing attempt and I haven't had one negative remark yet which is a relief.
thanks for buying a copy and making it all worthwhile

It would be a pleasure luke although I haven't been on the kennet for a while owing to work in northern areas. Been working in Tring this week though and managed a couple of tench out of startops which I am over the moon about.
I hope you like the book and thanks for buying it.
Hello Nigel I hope things are good with you?
funnily enough that episode does get a mention along with the rest of the chaps, especially young dougie ha ha!
Well, after three to four years and many endless hours of writing, editing, throwing away, writing, editing and worrying I have finally got to the point where my attempt at penning an angling book has been published.
It takes you on a journey through my angling life, from the Norfolk Broads...
Tench fishing doesn't necessarily mean scaled down carp fishing, in fact I would say it is more enjoyable with feeders and even more enjoyable with a float rod.
I have got myself a 13ft Drennan tench float rod and can't wait to get on a gravel pit with it in May. Until then its tons of bait in...
Sorry Shaun I didn't explain myself very well and Simon is right when he says about vitalin being stodgy. I would take on board anything Simon has to say as I believe him to be a rather exceptional tench angler.
For what its worth I use the vitalin mainly as a carrier with everything else mixed...
Hi Shaun, if you are on a tight budget I would consider buying a sack of vitalin original dog food and use this as your bulk. You can buy a tray of 12 cans of sweetcorn from aldi for less than £4.
With the money you have saved I would buy a few jars of Dynamite frenzied hemp, a couple of bags...
