Having bought a Shimano 5000xr last year for float work, I would rush out and buy another one for feeder work too if I was in that situation. The clutch is superb.
Fox illusion trans khaki in 19lb has been good and robust for the time I used it. They all cast like a bag of spanners but agree with the above advice to give it a good stretch. 60 yards should more than manageable with whatever you choose.
Bobbins made from drilled bullet weights with a hairpin through the middle to form the clip. Bend those rod tips into the lead to create a sping tight line balanced set up. Solar quiver locs were great for this sort of approach when they came on the scene.
Meat smothered in curry powder, size 4 buried in meat, if they want to feed and you're on them you'll catch quickly. You'll probably catch others from same spot as they are grouped together in a comfortable area.

Another vote for the Korum super lite river brolly. I hate carrying a brolly but this one doesn't feel like a hindrance at all. I use it with side rather than center poles to increase coverage. I almost want to buy another before they get discontinued.
Shelf life pastes don't seem to have the same bindind/moulding qualities of normal fresh, egg made paste. The shelf life pastes I've used have been useless for river fishing situations and seem to be brittle and dry.
If I'm using a braided rigs for meat fishing, instead of changing whole rigs everytime a hook blunts, I just have a loop tied on the end to simply loop on another hook a bit like a multi rig for carp fishing but with the loop pulled tight to the eye. Just a little tip that works for me.
