First post, and straight away a question!

Llanthomas worth a look. You park quite close to the river. There are a number of hotels and B&B's close by. We stayed at bunk house at glasbury Wye Valley Canoes, Bed and breakfast accommodation only a couple of mile upstream. Great food and staff. They even said we could fish in front of the...

    Rolling the meat

I do same as mark, with lead wire around the shank of hook. I mainly do rolling meat on the teme and Severn, so with the faster flows I find fly tying lead of little use. I managed to sorce some decent diameter lead wire which is perfect. You use to be able to buy the lead wire from Partridge...

    3ft Twitch Rubby Buddy Boilies

Barbel will eat just about anything.... It has very little to do about the bait....(IMO) I bet spam has caught more big barbel than any other bait.... Anglers, especially barbel anglers are the worst...looking for that edge, rather than concentrating on the important things like location...

    Noooooo

I'm lucky enough to be able to call Steve Collett a mate. The guy is a fishing genius. I have the greatest respect for someone who can be catching silvers from a half frozen canal one week, then be bagging 4lb perch or huge Pike the next. I've had the privilege of fishing with Steve a number...

    Noooooo

Which 4lb perch was that... You've had so many..... ;)

    New licence, got one yet?

Can't understand why more don't do it via direct debit. It's easy, and once set up, you don't need to do anything else. You get a letter a month or so before the licence is due, telling you how much it is going to be, then a couple of weeks later it arrived through the post... I don't have to...

    Sad news about Fred Crouch

Very sad news. He will be missed by many.... I had the pleasure of meeting and fishing with Fred a few times, but probably my most memorable was on a 'charity' Barbel day down on the Hampshire Avon. I was lucky enough to win the day with this 12lb 7oz Barbel... On the evening there...

    How big is yours.

Must admit, my thinking behind the big meat has nothing to do with scent.... Its all to do with targeting the larger than average fish. Steve
