Llanthomas worth a look.
You park quite close to the river.
There are a number of hotels and B&B's close by.
We stayed at bunk house at glasbury Wye Valley Canoes, Bed and breakfast accommodation only a couple of mile upstream.
Great food and staff.
They even said we could fish in front of the...
I do same as mark, with lead wire around the shank of hook.
I mainly do rolling meat on the teme and Severn, so with the faster flows I find fly tying lead of little use.
I managed to sorce some decent diameter lead wire which is perfect.
You use to be able to buy the lead wire from Partridge...
Barbel will eat just about anything....
It has very little to do about the bait....(IMO)
I bet spam has caught more big barbel than any other bait....
Anglers, especially barbel anglers are the worst...looking for that edge, rather than concentrating on the important things like location...
Plenty of fishing on the Severn. Lots of b&b's and hotels.
Anywhere between Shrewsbury and bewdley will put you in with a good chance of catching a few...

I don't have to...
Very sad news.
He will be missed by many....
I had the pleasure of meeting and fishing with Fred a few times, but probably my most memorable was on a 'charity' Barbel day down on the Hampshire Avon.
I was lucky enough to win the day with this 12lb 7oz Barbel...
On the evening there...
Buy and sell new and used boats at Boats and Outboards also worth keeping an eye on, as well as the usual eBay/gumtree.
Also take a walk around a few mariners, you may well find something for sale at one of them....
Steve
I don't fish the Thames tony, but I have a few boats and mainly use them on the Severn.
You really need to decide what type of fishing you are going to do first....
I mainly predator fish from my boat, but I am planning on doing some barbel fishing from it next season.
If you are going to...
Funnily enough Darren, I was just thinking about chasing my contact and seeing if he had any available....
If I do, are there many that want some?
I have to buy them in bulk, and don't want to be left with hundreds of pairs.....
Steve
