No bites this morning on the River Idle.

Used the wide gapes for a few seasons now.100% confidence in them.They stay put even when slackening off slightly with fish buried in the weed.

I had a barbel on the Trent take a large spinner bait,and on the Idle I’ve had one one a soft plastic crayfish intended for perch. And caught one intentionally on a chunk of lamprey. I fish small cranks for chub and perch,but not had a follow from a barbel as far as I know.

Thanks for that,very interesting.As bailiff on the River Idle I know that that Idle record is out of date, But if people don’t report their catches there’s not a lot we can do about it.
