Yes, it's good practice to check everything after casting out, no one is doubting that, but we are human and given the choice between a reel where I had to check it every time I cast out and one that I could trust to never snap my line should I forget to check it, I would take the latter every time.

Ive worn the Brasher Supalite II's for a couple of years now coupled with Gortex gaiters. Really comfortable and waterproof.
