I’d based my intentions around the daylight captures seen on Nick’s Korum film. I’ll have to rethink if it only delivers in the dark now. I suppose it may also depend on tactics. I was planning on the groundbait feeder approach with maggot rather than pellets / boilie.

Exactly the video that inspired me Tim! I’ll be honest and admit the location aspect and spodding is quite daunting having fished exclusively on small rivers forever but that’s part of the allure too.

Thanks Daniel. I appreciate the reply. I’ve seen about the heavy baiting requirements so looking at a cheap spodding setup. Fishing stillwaters, at range and with such tactics is very alien to me, but like I said I want to diversify a bit and try and tick off some more species.

Thanks Tim. Always good to hear the experiences of others. I’m currently thinking of trying for a 2lb fish from Scotland, Wales and England to keep me occupied for the rest of the season. I’ll definitely check out that Frome stretch too.

What does a pint of maggots go for these days. I distinctly remember maybe £2.50 in my youth.
