I won’t go barbel fishing without one and the same respect I didn’t go barbel fishing without a bait dropper before Spoppers came on the scene.
They cast like arrows, sink like stones and can deposit a lot of bait on the bottom very quickly and accurately.
If yours are opening prematurely or...
That would be enough to put me off them aswell.
Having to Hand line a big river cam chub was the very reason I won’t have an aero X again either.
The short spool skirt coupled with a line guard that’s fitted with enough clearance to get toe rope in there is just a train wreck of a design...
I’ve not fished above it before. I’ve fished below it a few times and it’s definitely good for a few chub and barbel on the float if you move about. Not prolific or certainly never been prolific for me but good for afew
It’s really nice down there too
Your only half a mile down from beeston weir
I’ve caught some nice ones on the float from just above there. Some lovely shallow fast glides round that way. Good chub sport too
Yes I’ve serviced them all and the difference is negligible between OC and D
Few small subtle upgrades that only a salt water angler is ever going to see the real advantages of.
Thunnus is in another league yes with the gearing size and type. Also the clutch on a thunnus is assisted with a...
Yeah when I first bought mine a good few years back now, I made them as visible as possible because as I’m sure you know they are quite easy to lose or forget about when screwed into the grass. So I painted the K white and stuck a couple of isotopes in the slots. I can’t remember the size now...
No the Korum ones are rubbish Alan they wobble about.
These are Avid. (Same company umbrella yes) but the avid ones lock up solid.
I use them on everything from the storm pole adapters on my brollys to little back rests and everything else apart from the net. That remains a thread for good reason
When you’ve seen your bail arms crash into those custom angling rests and go no further you’ll be very glad you bought them. They are the best designed barbel rest on the market imo and they’ve save me a very costly mistake a couple of times when I’ve taken my eye off the ball.
Yes I was...
Worth 400 all day every day!
You couldn’t spend that and get something else to better it. Baring the real extreme stuff I firmly believe the sphere river rods are the absolute best TnB float rods ever made.
it’s a good question and it depends.
If I’ve got the available space in front of the rod position then no I won’t use an angle adapter I’ll just jam my sticks in at the appropriate angle
I use the big chunky NGT storm poles. They don’t move or flex for nothing.
If you need to use an angle...
Jim unless there is no option with the ground go with bank sticks. 90% of the tripods on that river are nothing more than a fashion thing but in reality if you can splay rods individually into perfect positions and jam a couple of long big sticks in the ground that’s gotta be better than any...
