Agree about the Aldi merino clothing. This is often sold out with online purchases before it even hits the stores. It is very popular.

Mountain Warehouse do reasonable merino long johns and long sleeved tops. Been using them for winter motorcycling over the last few years. There’s a current discount code of WINTER that is usable until the end of the month, both online and in store.

One of these went for £185 on the bay a few days ago. I’ve got a pair of these that I’ve had from new, but I doubt they are minty enough as have been my go to zander rods for a few seasons.

I’ve always found a good barrier against the cold, is to thoroughly rub Vaseline into your hands before you start. This takes a few minutes to do properly, but certainly works. Whatever gloves you then use, stand a better chance of keeping the chill out.

Thanks for the ebay headsup. I can't believe I hadn't checked the bay myself. The 8mm are the size I've been using. Although they have a circular cross section, a quick scrape with a knife puts a flat on one side to allow superglueing together on the hair. Thanks again chaps, most helpful.
