John, I don't want your post to encourage further digs against Ade, if it does myself or one of the other mods will lock it down. Paul

    Bull Huss

Chris, I had seen a few vids on you tube so I was expecting them to be a bit tricksy. Couldn't get a straight pic of this one, it would not keep still or smile for the camera, tough as old boots. Loved every minute though, quality fish :) atb Paul

Andy, Thanks mate, always something getting in the way of fishing. My barbel fishing took a real nose dive when my 2nd one came along. It gets easier though. atb Paul

Gutted Looks like Drennan are no longer supplying the specialist double semi barbed hooks. These are my favorite Zed and Pike hooks. Just bought the last 3 packs of size 6 in premier angling. If you see any, let me know. I'll have to scour the net i suppose.:(

    Perch

Sometimes i find a small drennan or vb double hook in the vent or anal fin (in addition to the single hook) can help with hooking up, although dont leave the strike any longer than necessary. Sometimes perch will snap at the tail or back of a livebait to disable it or slow it down, before...

Pete, In most situations i'm sure the standard block would be fine; one of the problems i have with the river severn is that sometimes the banks are steep and lethal and with the net extended it can sometimes be a bit tricky elevating the fish up the bank without putting some pressure on the...

Thanks Pete, think i did put too much pressure on the block when it broke, one of those awkward swims :o. Nice fish Graham. :)

Ian, Used to have one of Steve Burkes nets (caliber tackle) which i used for pike, they were great nets. In fact still got and use the spreader block and arms on my 42 inch, which currently has a free spirit net attached to it; only cos i couldnt replace it with an original as the caliber had...
