Advice needed for custom power float rod

Hi They are not new or custum built, but are excellent rods are the Carbotec 13/15 ft - No 3. The action and power in these rods is unbelievable.

Which off the shelf float rod? Opinions please :)

I have used the No 2 and No3 13/15ft float rods. They are a joy to use at 13ft but you do notice the extra weight difference at 15ft.

Which off the shelf float rod? Opinions please :)

I use the Carbotec No3, 13/15, the Normack Crusader 15ft/20 (only at 15) and the Mark Tunley 13 5ft, 1lb rest curve floart rod. All are great rods but if I could choose one it would be the Carbotec.

Am I wasting my time buying a second rod?

Join Hereford and if possible Ross-On-Wye angling clubs. I was a member of Hereford for about 6 years. Birmingham AA also have a stretch on the Wye, but that might have even more. Find out what the club rules re- how many rods you can fish. Also contact local tackle shops and ask about 2 rod...

    Finally!!! Something half decent

Congratulations Richard, what a fish. I never take scales with me when I float fish and I had my PB last week. However, the fish I caught was half that size, I guess a good 7lber. The Yorkshire rivers are more challenging when it comes to catching doubles on the feeder never mind on the...

Am I wasting my time buying a second rod?

It depends on how often you go fishing. Stating the obvious, a second rod gives you flexibility to fish X2 lines. I fish 2 rods most of the time, but it's good to have a back up option incase you damage a rod.

New rods wanted. C3’s vs basis vs mark tunleys dark carbons any info on these 3 please pros and cons.

Out of interest, how do the Basias compare with the C3. I have the C3s and prefer them to the Hi, s.

    Change baits !

Totally agree. A bait change, something different from the usual fodder can be a game changer.

    Loaded V Unloaded Wagglers

Howdy I am interested in people's experiences of using loaded and unloaded wagglers. Is one approach better than the other. I use unloaded, but think one advantage of a load waggler is that you can use float stops which will reduce the potential for line damage.

    Elipse pellets

IMO. Elipse pellets are not the same as the original ones you could by from Hinders, going back 15 years ago, or from West Country baits who also stopped producing them.

    Hook length material

Use combi rigs and get the best of both. I use 12lb Gardner Mirage flouro and 15lb Kryston Supa Nova braid I tie the rig using the Alberto knot.
