Morning Mark,
I'd say you've pretty much got it spot on. That approach and feeding fish will see you catch for sure.
Don't be afraid to put a bigger lead on at times and anchor the bait in the main flow.....on occasions they'll happily sit there and feed, just look for smooth, walking pace...
Amazingly (or not as it would seem). There is a trophy shot of the angler holding the barbel and you can clearly see the damage under the pec from the foul hooking. The comments section 🤦
'you can see the hole from the foul hooking, great effort landing it'
Being just one example 👀🤦
That fish was foul hooked aswell, one of the reasons it took so long to land.
IMO match anglers see fish as a commodity and a way to earn money. They have zero consideration for fish care on any level.
When you consider the efforts carp anglers, specialist anglers and indeed pleasure anglers...
I got a full Nash ZT winter suit some 14 years ago, still going strong now although a little 'weathered'
The only thing with the ZT clothing is it is (was?) designed for carp anglers sat in a bivvy not moving much.
It keeps you very warm however once you're on the move along the river in...
I had a nosy then saw the price and almost had a coronary 🤣
£15kg to throw it in the river 👀👀
I'd be going in to get it back if I blanked so I could use it again 🤣
Ive just read Tony Miles, Elite Barbel for the umpteenth time.
When he was on Adams Mill before it became well known he would regularly introduce large amounts of corn into a different area of the swim to concentrate the chub.
Once they were preoccupied he would focus on the spot he knew the...
Nice write up Gavin 👌
I recognise each one of those swims 😉🤣
Had a good number through there when I visited, plus loads of bream and chub.
That white house opposite is Ade Kiddels old place 'Kingfisher Maison'
Thanks
Lewis
It'll soon settle down and once balanced need very little attention on that front mate.
When I set up my 240 litre aquarium it was a fair while before it was fully cycled, water was balanced etc etc
4 years in and I barely have to touch it now. 20% water change every few weeks and check the...
I'll be honest, I got really really lucky.
At the point I decided to dig the pond, a friend of my dad commented he was filling his in but needed a home for the fish and filter/pump system. If I wanted to take it all off his hands I could crack on and empty his pond and deal with it all...
Thanks Richard, not bad for a chef who has zero DIY skills 😂
I've got 2 pumps/filters in the pond and an external canister filter.
One of the pumps filters water and passes 50% down the waterfall and 50% into the canister filter. The other pumps straight into the canister filter. This then...
This is something that does concern me Cliff as we have herons regularly within 100 yards of the garden due to a stream and 2 settling ponds that are very mature within a stones throw.
I've currently got fine fishing line across the pond and have dug it so the herons can't walk into or land in...
The addition of a few plants and it's (almost) finished. Need a few ticks along the back to hide the liner, some more greenery and the beds either side planting.
This time next year I'm hoping it will have flourished and be looking as I want it.
