Yes, but not always on my local river as there is an EA site that measures and shows the water temperature every hour.
I won't bother checking the temperature until mid October.
I'm not one for digital thermometers but these are good enough...
With regards to the red krill pellets be wary.
95% of the red krill pellets you will buy are just coated in red krill.
Throw a few in the edge and watch them turn from a nice dark red colour to a pale colour within 20 minutes
Why pre drilled?
So many people have put the Hinders elips pellets down on here.
I've used then for 25+ years.
Yes, their shape changed a few years back from flat to cylindrical.
They are superb still.
Cut a little flat on 2 pellets and glue them back to back.
I remember drilling them myself...
Ignore them, they're just inquisitive.
As long as you don't venture between a bull and it's cows/calves you'll be fine.
Cows and horses are in the field where I fish all the time and I've never had a problem.
They're just nosey buggers!
Has anyone used this company that are based in France?
I am after a particular reel and it appears they are the only place I can find that have one in stock as it is now discontinued.

Many thanks
9000 small barbel were stocked into the Dorset Stour over several years around about 2010 ish.
At the time Andrew, it was stated that maybe 1 in 100 would possibly make adulthood.

You said the bottom.was firm but didn't say what it is.
I'm guessing gravel?
In which case, Hemp would be the best way forward in my opinion for pre-baiting.
Hemp gets right in the gravel and will pull fish in for many days on end.
I've baited remote swims with Hemp and watched barbel...
Hi Brian,
I hope you are well.
I have used sensor before in the 250 meter spools and have never had a problem.
However, i have realised that Daiwa Sensor really is an inferior line in my opinion these days.
In 6lb I use this......
