I've got a Preston 15-17ft Equis Super Float. I was a big Drennan fan until i bought this rod. I've owned most of the series 7 range over the years and a couple of Acolyte rods( 13ft & 14ft plus). I've used small sticks up to large Bolo floats. With take 3lb to 6lb mainlines. The main thing...
I've got the Gardner others have mentioned. Quite thick and a little heavy but very strong. Never had any problems with the twist lock but i do wash the pole down with warm water to rid any grit and spray little silicon on it after every session.
I have a 1.5lb and the big river 2lber of these rods. Well made and a good progressive action. Worth every penny. Slim blanks but not as slim my( only a couple mill difference) 1.25 and 1.5 rods of the original TFG avons that were built on Free Spirit blanks.
The 1.5lb make a nice Trench rod...
Not only do the fish suffer in this weather but so do i. Haven't fished since 2 Sundays past. Way too hot for me, i have never really liked the heat in the summer months. Preferring the Auturm to Spring cooler months.
I own a 15/17ft P I Super Equis rod. Great river rod. Not sure if it would handle a Barbel. But for Dace up to small Chub it's a brilliant tool. The tip is very sensitive. It has a progressive action. When i caught a 5lb Chub last week the lower section is where the strength came in. For a river...

Have to agree again with Paul regarding the FreeFlow CP. Also on the funny named Chinese reels. I bought one in size 4000 and another in 6000. These cost around £24 delivered for the pair. I use both for feeder work and they are excellent, Their drags are second to none and the whole reel is...
My TFG reels were better quality when new. Was thinking of treating myself a new JW centerpin but now before buying i will have to inspect it before i hand over the money
Thanks for the kind offer Dave, i didn't get a sleeve with it. I usually just chuck them anyway. I have put it in a spare Drennan 2 rod padded holdall i have.
I got to use it on Thursday and Friday, trotting with a centre pin on the Sussex River Rother. Managed to hook 2 Chub around 4/5lb mark...
