I'm no expert but I believe the mark 1 had a tendency to twist under tension but was resolved in the mark 2.
I think line twist could be a problem with mono, I believe Ray uses braid.

Funnily enough the boiler flue was faulty and we had to have a new boiler.
The black one is a Trentman (albeit with customised drag knob) distinguishable by the unusual reel seat and only really usable with sliding reel fittings ( unless like me you you fashion a new reel seat to be used with screw fittings)
