A ban on lead in fishing?

The thought process is that the fish can use the fixed lead as a counterbalance to eject the hook. I don't know if this is true in reality, but when I have caught tench on a very short hook link on an in-line maggot feeder I have felt a touch uncomfortable about a 2oz lead smacking it in the...

A ban on lead in fishing?

I've just watched it. Very worrying indeed. It seems that in the great world order, anglers are always at the bottom.

A ban on lead in fishing?

I watch most of Mark's videos but I haven't seen this one yet. I don't suppose the date has got anything to do with this? 😁

    *SHIMANO 5010 baitrunners WANTED

My good friend Mike Wilson has a collection of these and seeing as he doesn't fish anymore I could ask him if you are still looking?

Bit of a 'back to basics' kinda question....

A Deeper definitely helps. I fish a few stretches of the Thames, message me if you want.

    Who made this blank?

And one of them still is. 🙂 👍

    Isotopes

In this blinged-up electronic techno world I am surprised that a rod maker hasn't fitted micro led lights in a blank, powered by a small battery inside the rod. Mark my words, you heard it here first. 😁 Bob G - have you ever fitted led lights as fret markers in guitar necks, a la alembic...

Calling all users of Ray Walton Rolling Pin Reel!!

I'm no expert but I believe the mark 1 had a tendency to twist under tension but was resolved in the mark 2. I think line twist could be a problem with mono, I believe Ray uses braid.

    Boilie Flavours

I spilt a bottle of N-Butyric Acid in the shed last year. Her indoors smelt it from the bedroom window and called a heating engineer because she thought the boiler smelt funny. Funnily enough the boiler flue was faulty and we had to have a new boiler.

    Cheaper pins

The black one is a Trentman (albeit with customised drag knob) distinguishable by the unusual reel seat and only really usable with sliding reel fittings ( unless like me you you fashion a new reel seat to be used with screw fittings) Initially thought to be made by workers at the Rolls Royce...

Drennan Puddle Chucker Carp feeder as a chub rod?

The Drennan 7 series rods are sound and underrated IMO. I have a few and for the price they're hard to beat. The puddle chuckers are great. The 11ft carp waggler is very versatile.

    Rod Position Changes

It also depends on other river users. On some parts of the Thames you would be wiped out by boats, rowers, etc if you had them really high.

    Scales

If only they made the Flyweiights to a better quality they would be perfect for me.

    Scales

I have hoarded many scales over the years, god knows why because I rarely catch anything worth weighing. 😂 2 sets of avons. 4 sets waymaster/flywight. RH specimen specimen hunter Korum, Fox, Berkley, Angling Direct and many other no-name digital scales. My go to scales are the flyweight...

    Spliced tipped float rods.

The dearth of spliced tip rods has been because, as previously mentioned, the popularity of commercial lakes and the need for rods that can land bigger fish, but also because of the rise in use of carbon whips. Instead of running a stick float down the edge an 8m carbon whip to hand can hit...

    Tench 2024

As per previous, how I mark my line. I use a piece of pole elastic, tie it in to a loop, lasso it on to the main line and cut it to size. Easy to tie with the rod in the rests and easy to pick off.

    Spliced tipped float rods.

How about swinging in fish? I guess you have to be more careful with a spliced tip?
