Flippin hell, that's John Baker's shed isn't it?

Ray Walton rolling pin & rod combo question.

I would have to suggest using a true through action rod when using braid. A rod with an arresting point half way up the rod will put unecessary pressure on the hook hold. That is just my view.

    BARBEL CATCHER centre pin

I don't think I could ever sell mine! Beautiful reels.

    Making your own bait.

I came across a book earlier today recalling how much of an influence it was when I started on my baiy making journey. https://www.whsmith.co.uk/products/the-beekay-guide-to-carp-baits/ken-townley/paperback/9780947674472.html?gad_source=1&gclsrc=ds

Good luck with it mate. I have to be honest and say I never had as much fun making bait than when I was buying ingredients to put together your own recipes. They all caught fish and those with a bit of liver and krill did well. I wouldn't be surprised if AA Baits Squid and Octopus is the same as...

    Interesting Vid from Mark Tunley

I would hypothesise that with the beefier rod the recorded result on the scales will be less than was the case with the barbel rod.

Directly, without the lever of the rod.

He did I know, but it just didn't really have the action of the 3 piece, Tom.

Significant advance in carbon fibre rod building in the last 20 years?

Ditto that Richard. As soon as I saw the name Adrian Williams I wondered how long ago this thread was. I have a couple of rods that came from Paul Boote's stable so to speak and heaven knows they may 30 year old blanks and technology, but not sure there is much around to challenge them today.

    Free Spirit Tench Seeker

Much appreciated sentiment there, Richard, thank you. I haven't found one yet that I might have a look at. If action alone were to be my holy grail, the Kev Baines 3 piece Specialist would have me more than satisfied, and it is still to this day with the memory of seeing and feeling that rod...

I have a couple of the lighter Interceptors, made for me by MT - a couple of beautiful rods they are, but I would enjoy something even a little softer.
