Daiwa tournament pro 13/15 match rod

I've the 13/15 Tournament Pro, and have had a number of barbel on it out of the Trent to double figures. But I did go out and buy a Drennan Power Float for this purpose as I didn't think it was going to do such an expensive rod a lot of good.

    Nash scope rods

I bought some for the canal and for times when roaming, you'd be surprised compared to a normal 12 footer in the same test curve. I tried a mates and was recommended 3.25Ib tc to cover capability in chucking pva bags. I've had carp to 34Ib on them. I've even recently bought the 6ft 3Ib for roaming.

    Whose good for pellets?

Yes they are round unlike the old elipticle pellet, but the last lot of so called elipse pellets I had from Hinders lost their colour in no time and didn’t seem as oily as the elipse I’ve had before. The WCB pellets are what I expected, only as you say round.

    Whose good for pellets?

I've been using these, much better than the last bag I had from Hinders http://westcountrybaits.co.uk/shop/barbel-specialist/elips-pellets/

Talk to me about float rods

I agree with a lot of what Chris has said. I've a 14ft Acolyte Plus for times when I'll be mainly catching silvers on a river, but with a chance of a barbel or two. If I'm out for Barbel on the float I'll dig out the Drennan Power Float. I also use the Acolyte Plus when slider fishing or big...

    Angling Trust

Thanks Lee. I've been searching to see if there is anything online I could quote, as this was brought up at an AT meeting a while back, but remember it also had something to do with the type of organisation that stopped them being able to make it compulsory to join. The same would go for RSPB...

    They can't by law

    Angling Trust

For legal reasons they cannot add a couple of quid to the Rod Licence, and make it compulsory to join, and I don't think many would object to joining if it only cost a little. The problem at the moment is those who don't pay up, benefit from their work. And when it comes to the likes of...

    Keeping them feeding

There's a couple of things you could try. When bites start to drop off try going shallow, as it may be the fish are intercepting the bait higher up in he water. It could also be that large fish have moved in which will reduce the number of bites, but may bank you a big fish. If nothing comes of...

    Korum roving Kit

I still use the chair and bag and I'm happy with them. But the skeleton holdall was a pain and ended up on ebay. I can get in enough tangles without having to untangle the item that carries the rods etc. Lol I either carry my rods seperatley or use the Drennan Super Specialist double rod sleeve...

    A.T. working for the EA.

But this is my point. AT needs membership money to run such campaigns. It's no good or any help to them joining after the event. Things are getting done with the little membership it has. Imagine what it could do if even 60% of the anglers in this country joined. You want them to fight your...

    A.T. working for the EA.

AT have always received funding from the EA, and do you really believe AT would back the release of otters. Otter Predation - The Angling Trust Blame the EA is an easy option, but who are they governed by? Have you spoke to your local MP? If it would do any good you'd have tried

    A.T. working for the EA.

Who says they won't challenge any EA failings? The EA aren't perfect either but they do some good work too. It's always when things go wrong that get remembered. Fish Legal is like an insurance policy, you don't know what you are paying, or how good it's going to be, until you need to use it...

    A.T. working for the EA.

I'm not saying predation isn't a problem, but disagree regarding fish stocks in the rivers, as some of them are fishing better now than I've known in nearly 40 years of fishing. 30 years ago, I wouldn't have imagined I'd ever catch double figure barbel out of the Trent. The otter died out for a...
