i think you can get away with a golf umbrella or similar when roving, you can just hold it while the rod is in the rest, if you're moving swims regularly you're going to be in and out the rain anyway.
If I may say gents, they are all good quality baits and I doubt very much if one outfishes the other, I honestly don't believe barbel or carp are that fussy, location and presentation are more important imo.
i have both the 11' and 12' 1.75s and contrary to most I prefer the 12'. The 11' is much more tippy in its action whereas the 12' bends more through the rod which I prefer.
