    My fishing diary

First session on the Moselle river this year in search of barbel. The water temperature was around 9.5°C, and it was a lovely spring day ! Three bites for two catches, unfortunately both times, the wrong guest :D What worked today was an 8mm chorizo soaked pellet with a fake corn bait. For the...

    Sometimes one rod is enough?

Hi everyone, up until now, I've always fished with a single rod. But on a medium-sized river. I'm going to start fishing the Moselle River soon (quite similar to the Meuse for those who know it) at a spot just outside a dam, about 100-120 meters wide. I think that in this situation, two rods are...

A few updates. I've finished the bindings. Nothing too fancy, it's still quite simple. The rod was varnished this morning and is currently drying :) The rest of the photos will follow when everything is dry!

Hello from a Yorkshire Angler looking for a French 'Angle'.

Hi Nigel, I've never fished the Meuse, but it has a nice population of barbel. The fishing spots aren't too difficult to access. Regarding the Sauer River, you can't fish for barbel there between March 1st and June 1st. This river is located in Luxembourg, so the permit is different from the...

Finding the spine is indeed an important step in rod building; in fact, it's one of the first steps. But the placement of the guides is also crucial. One doesn't work without the other.

Hello everyone, lots of interesting ideas and discussions on this topic :) I've never heard of a rod breaking due to a particular type of reel seat. I'm not sure if a more flexible reel seat would really stay that way after epoxy bonding and would truly minimize the risk. But why not? I don't...

Hi, the rings are American Tackle pentalite. My actual choice is 25-16-12-10-8-8-8-8-8 + top, with two rings on the but section. I fish a lot on the Sauer River in Luxemburg (small/medium river) but sometimes on the Mosel River too, who is much bigger, a little bit like the Meuse River in France.

Hello everyone. First of all, I wish you all a wonderful 2026 year, with plenty of time spent by the water searching for barbel :) Last year, I discovered feeder fishing for barbel. I started with a Korum Limitless 200 rod. As a rod builder, and after much research on English forums and...

    Best pellets

Hi ! I discover a few weeks ago the "Wild river barbel" brand. I use soaked pellets in 8 et 14mm. Love the Chorizo flavour 😍 I'm gonna try other flavours next year, in association with the boilies and the grounbait.

    My fishing diary

Hello everyone, I own a blog (called “Mon Carnet de Pêche), where I've been recounting my fishing adventures since... 1997 :) I thought I'd do the same thing here, focusing on barbel fishing in my local rivers. I discovered barbel fishing this year. So yesterday, I had my first winter fishing...
