cheers chris
i get to aysgarth 4pm friday 25th sept so after unpacking if you are free for an hour or so around tea time you could show me whats what.
i plan to fish saturday till mid afternoon and if i do well, sunday too prob a 5 hour session, early or late
i will have to travel to bedale...
thanks for that, i didnt realise the swale was that close.
ive just spent an hour on their site looking at likely spots and i can imagine all the likely looking pegs will be taken on a weekend so will probably do the family stuff instead
HI i am after some info on the river Ure or tributaries as im staying in a lodge soon near aysgarth and wondered if it was worth taking my fishing gear. If not for barbel then any coarse fishing as i also love to trot a stick for anything that swims.
I know around there its mainly trout/fly...
at the risk of resurrecting a (very) old thread ive just watched an angler on tv playing a double figure carp in front of him and all he is doing is holding his rod , reel locked and the clutch is just going whizz whizz every time the fish pulls too hard
he hasn't even got his hand on the...
backwinding like an organ grinder is the least skilful part of playing a fish sans clutch
trying to get it into netting range without a clutch takes far more concentration-skill because you don't have the safety net of the clutch
so you have to use your rod, your arm, your hand on the handle...
glad to see other people have tried this
those that mock it why not try it? some are not fully understanding the mechanics of not using a clutch and I assume are just picturing someone backwinding like an organ grinder
graham Elliot and ruissel emms
try and imagine when the fish is almost...
I think I once entered into this debate on here a few years ago and remember getting flamed by the uninformed, if you haven't tried it please don't reply
in the 90's as a club/match angler we used to tighten our clutches right down and play fish directly
we agreed it took far more skill...
thanks for all that
just looked at the fox warrior but rear legs don't adjust but the xl does
however I noticed fox do a FX CAMO Super Deluxe Recliner
and that looked the biz
the non camo is 20 quid cheaper
now to find a stockist to try it out alongside the warrior to see if its worth...
I do actually need a trolley as ive been using my builders wheelbarrow...
ill have a look at that nash chair
edit
its been discontinued
wonder if there is a newer version that can take the trolley kit?
has to be a recliner
that Hutchinson chair looks good mike
with square legs wonder how easy it is to get accessories/ sidetray for it?
I was hoping for a rod rest attachment but can visualise loads of false bites when I fart or fidget etc
korum accessory chair a bit dearer but the arms cost...
mike I don't suppose you have any pictures of said missus in a reclined pose you could send me?
purely to see if we are talking the same thing here....
and most of my fishing is on that river that flows into the humber the tidal and non tidal trent
I don't rove so weight not a problem
I like it to recline so I can snooze/stare at the skies
doesn't have to go flat
has to have adjustable feet
HAS TO HAVE ARMS
it would be nice for it to be used with accessories side trays, rod rests, microwaves, portable TV's, early warning listening...
and leaving the flip and catch mechanism on the bin it makes a nice loud clunk every rotation
so u just count the clunks
if I was wealthy I would just fill the spools up but trying to finance all my hobbies and holidays needs a bit of penny pinching somewhere.
thanks to david craine for...
got it totally sorted
filling spools to whatever capacity I want is a piece of p|$$ takes literally minutes
this way I can fill any spool with 125m or 200m or whatever takes my fancy of good line and use backing for the rest saving a fortune - (ive just spent over £120 on line last 2 weeks)...
