Bite alarms on strong rivers (ie the Trent)

I use Delkim TXI-D’s with hangers, always have done, but is there actually any point to using the hangers on a flowing water? My mind says “no” but habit says yes.

Only use really is if they are the type that you can clip the line into, then a drop back at distance would register better than a single bleep and spring back on the rod you occasionally get. I never bother though.
 
Upstreaming with a fixed lead would be one scenario where they would offer an advantage
The delk hangers themselves are actually useful connected up even if they don’t move. They don’t even need to necessarily be clipped on the line.
They flash to the audio bleeps coming from the alarm and can simply be used as an additional visual indication. So imo it’s not a pointless exercise to use them if you have them

I’m on the Trent now and have been for several hours, they are actually hanging loose now and a few minutes ago I had a good take (deffo wasn’t a barbel) and the alarm still did its thing.
 
Yes, drop backs when fishing a big bow.... just need the bigger weight on a delkim hanger...
