Umbrella / Brolly

Well the last old un was killed Tuesday in the Gale.

Looked back at comments and recommendations. Is the Fox Specialist the one to go for when just day fishing?

See it has not got the storm poles with it but I have two NGT ones and guess they are universal?

Korum Pentalite imo is a better shelter than the Fox Specialist, which is also good. It provides more protection from the elements as you can sit further back into it than the Fox. Comes with storm poles.

Bought a Fox Specialist at the start of the season to replace my ancient Wavelock, really happy with it, properly built and fully waterproof. Comes in a waterproof sleeve but it doesn't have a carrying strap however it does fit into my Gardner river quiver. I tried the Nufish Nu-lite but it snapped in three places first decent gust of wind. Storm pole male connections are the standard bankstick size.

Joe has the korum got that soft metal lead linkage at top. Bought an umbrella once and snapped first day in a breeze.

Another vote for the korum pentalite. Not sure what your on about Graham with the lead wire but I'm sat in mine now looking at it and it's all very well built. The spokes are 8/9mm metal and the hub is a very solid plastic. Loads of adjustment for sloping banks and high enough at the front to see the tip when you've got your rods in the air. Can't fault it really.

Had the fox specialist for a few seasons now, never had a problem with it.

Another vote for the Fox brolly, with pegs pinning it down at back it is very solid. I’m 6’4” and have plenty of coverage for me with chair and tackle etc

Sorry didn't make it clear.
The wiring inside the brolly linking the top of the spokes Joe

Does this help Graham?

Brolly very much earning it's keep in this afternoons downpour.

Yes Joe. Is that a metal ring near the top that seems pined or is it just the edge of the plastic shining? If its lead wire....if that goes its useless

I think it would fit into the transition new 3 rod one Mark.

I do have a newish NGT brolly with storm poles but came with weedy metal stakes. Have bought some proper stakes and a mallet so will test it out on the type of rocky ground it blew away twice last time.😣😁😁

Try the Daiwa MD 125, its lightweight with fibre spokes very strong and very waterproof, the best brollies I have owned, in fact I now have four.
I got rid of the Korum brollies, they are too heavy, too bulky when folded and a nightmare in the wind, the brolly tries to wrap itself around you when the wind blows from the rear.

The pentalite is an enormous improvement on the old Korum brollies which I didn't rate.

I couldn't fit my fox specialist into my fox specialist quiver (?), the Pentalite whilst longer is marginally slimmer which helps, but still not ideal. I believe the new korum transition quivers will fit the pentalite.
