Umbrella / Brolly

Well the last old un was killed Tuesday in the Gale.

Looked back at comments and recommendations. Is the Fox Specialist the one to go for when just day fishing?

See it has not got the storm poles with it but I have two NGT ones and guess they are universal?

Have a look on Fox Easy Shelter +
Can't get better for quick session day or night. Small and compact 👍

What did you go for @Graham Elliott ? I’m in the market for a new brolly myself...

thanks,

Andy

I've just bought a Korum Pentalite not used it yet but did put it up on the bank to show a friend and we were very impressed with it there's loads of room, plenty of adjustment, easy to put up and it's very light it come's with good quality pegs and two storm sticks.
I would also say it looks better in the flesh than it does in the Korum video.

Andy.
I had a NGT one that seemed great value. Well made IMO.
It included storm poles.

But the back spikes were simply wire and getting them into the rocky Trent ground insufficient to stop it going AWOL.

As I will only use it 4 or 5 times a year probably I decided to invest in a mallet and very strong spikes to bang in. Also NGT.

At £12 it may be a better investment than spending a lot more. We will see but pretty confident.

I use this Graham, it's excellent. Yep universal.

Another recommendation for the Pentalite. Only 3.5kg (including poles and pegs) and weighs the same as my old Korum Lightweight brolley, which, incidentally, is a storming (pun intended) bit of kit that kept me fishing through the big February storms. The Pentalite also fits in my quiver.

I am waiting for my new Wychwood Tactical brolly to be delivered its only just been released

Ive had the fox brolly for good few years. Bit heavy but in high winds its brilliant . Ive used it on the lower severn when other couldn't put there brollys up and when im piking on a res in high winds.

my new Wychwood Tactical brolly arrived I put it up in the garden with an old plastic sheet
only bad point is the packed length !!!!! its around 6ft long !!
its a different design with only 7 ribs but its got loads more coverage than my old 50" MHR compact brolly had its low but I can sit on my bedchair with a space above my head tried to show this in the picture Im 5ft 8" I have ordered the optional zip in front only £29.99 but ap

I have ordered the optional zip in front only £29.99 but apparently there is a problem as the Chinese factory cocked up and you cant letter box it
but in true Wychwood aftersales they have said anyone that has bought a front can keep it and in about 1 months time the correct one will be sent out FOC as they will be having them flown over
you cant say fairer than that brilliant !!

After a lot of years of 'manning-up' without a brolly and suffering the elements with just a coat I've decided to relent and buy a brolly. The Korum Pentalite seems favourite but the ESP runs a close second. I've not seen the Korum yet. The question I have is the Korum well built enough to survive a force 7-8; as I've destroyed enough standards brolly's enough in the past to stop replacing them?

I have the Korum Ady, though it hasn't yet been exposed to that level of wind. My Korum lightweight brolley stood up to the three of the gales we had in Feb last year, and I would fully expect the Pentalite to do the same.
I'm out in tomorrow's strong winds, so watch this space. All being well, I'll be able to report back positively!

Most will withstand the absolute worst of weather if they are pinned down properly. A good storm pole and peg is far more likely to see your brolley survive the elements over depending on the brolley quality itself.
The best brolly in the world can be so easily destroyed by a gust of wind.
I think the penalties look really good if you’ve got the ground space to peg all round but if you haven’t then the Korum graphite or supersteels are also very good being storm pole suitable and have peg points at the back.

this bad boy comes with me everywhere. It’s a single man small Korum graphite that weighs 2.5kg and with the screw in storm poles and pegs it ain’t going anywhere. I’m a short session, spike in the floor type of guy most of the time.
it’s not a heavy duty thing by any means but it will last just fine so long as I keep the bloody thing bolted to the deck.

Is that Korum still available Richard . . .? Looks perfect!

I just bought an 'NGT 45" Standard Green' for emergency use / river days only from Go Outdoors on the basis of its price (£19.99 but with 10% off) but primarily weight . . a measly 1.5kgs! It sits nicely in my 2rod sleeve and is compact and bijou so no bother to just leave in there and forget.

The angle mechanism is flimsy (to say the least) so would have to fish with the centre pole fully extended and the material is not particularly dense (think rizla material) however time will tell - might go out tomorrow and test in anger!

Not sure to be honest
The issue at the moment is tackle stocks everywhere are thin on the ground so it’s difficult to know if a product is discontinued or just simply out of stock for a while.
