narrow drum dpeedis

Hi again, just bought a narrow drum one as part payment for a little job for a mate, suitable for close in barbelling? I know the wide is better sposed to stop bedding in of line but surely a narrow is ok for underarming range?

You get my drift!

Yup. What I want to know is what it was that made you drift that far...and have you got any left :D

In answer to your question Chris (as nobody else has :p)....I wouldn't have thought it would make the slightest difference for that type angling. Now...understand that I am about the very LAST person qualified enough to really answer on this subject, but as I said before, you don't seem to be having a lot of luck here, apart from pees takers like me :D

So...from my point of view, the problem of line bedding is only a serious issue when you are trotting, especially with a light float. For casting barbel bottom fishing kit short distances, I really can't see it being an issue in any way.

Now your bedding plants...I as lots of trouble with them....and people who trot, I hate them...I don't even like people walking past my swim, noisy sods.....

Cheers, Dave

YOU SHOULDNT USE CENTREPINS FISHING FOR BARBEL its IRRESPONSIBLE!!!
How many times do i have to tell you people

Patrick is just being stupid...again. Centrepins are far superior to mangles for barbel fishing, as everyone knows.

The narrow drum dpedia will be fine. The line bedding in problem will only surface if you catch a really hard-fighting barbel, and will be exacerbated if you've overloaded the reel with line. On a smallish river fifty yards of line is more than enough.

Be nice to see you cast at the rear bank on the trent at the horse field Timothy

Mr Gauntlett has it about right, Chris. With thicker line, the choice of wide or narrow drum is merely a personal preference. :)

Mike the United Kingdom Surfcasting Association all comers record is about 310 Meters and a bit. I cannot be bothered to log on to find out as their site is poo. The word record aint much more. The Humber at Faxfleet, its source from memory is about half a mile wide. Best you get down to the next UKSF meet and show us where we are going wrong mate. Daiwa and Shimano will be wetting themselves trying to sign you up as a consultant.
