I've been informed that it is coming. Hopefully, it'll be sooner rather than later. They don't do a customer catalogue either, just the trade catalogue which is very basic too.

drennan are very old hat in the way they market their products, new stuff is usally on bit's of paper dropped off to the tackle shops sometimes through middle men.

Isn't Martin Bowler picking up the mantle as Peter Drennan's prodigy/successor in this great company??

However, that's probably a bit closer to the truth!;):D

Interestingly Drennan are one of the very few tackle manufacturers who don't source their products from China. They set up their own manufacturing facility in Malaysia to compete on price but not fall victim to the quality issues which can occur when using factory space in China.

That's what I heard also; didn't Shakespeare set up their own factory in China with the Chinese government’s involvement some years ago too?

The only problem with far eastern production is quality control and intellectual property theft can occur.

it's about bleeding time, major tackle company's brought their manufacturing base back to the UK, and yes, prices would rise, so what.

That's good to hear. However, I suspect that the difference between made in China and made in Malaysia will be pretty much lost on the vast majority. I know that I couldn't really care less. In my own mind things are either made in the UK, Europe, the USA, Japan or anywhere else. China and Malaysia get lumped into the anywhere else.;)

A lot of Chinese stuff is no longer cheap to the consumer. The stuff costs peanuts to make, then the cost to the consumer is the same as if made in the Uk - big profit margin! If the stuff were to made in the UK, the end price would be the same - just a smaller profit margin. I'd rather buy made in the UK, then spares would be a lot easier to source and our people would be in employment.

No offence Jim but that post suggests that you really haven't got a clue about the fishing tackle industry. :)

i think he speaks sense, like alot of other things that should be made here,
i obviously don't have a clue either..:)

I too would like to see more tackle manufactured in the UK. Seems we all agree on that.

But if you think that RRP's would remain the same.....

:)

i personally wouldn't mind that, like the Chris brown landing net and matrix stuff.
