Whip round

I'm not speaking in any way on behalf of Andy, but an annual subscription would mean a colossal amount of admin work and time, and I mean colossal. I currently have over 10,000 emails related to BFW as it is .
Sorry Paul, I didn't realize it was like that. It just goes to show what goes on behind the scenes of running a website. Great job by all 👏

Done 👍

Been a member for the best part of 20 odd years....where the hell that time has gone is beyond me!

Don't contribute as much as I used to but then I don't fish as much as I used to either. (been around long enough to remember being part of the 'original' forum)

Nice to be able to drop in and read reasoned debate among grown adults rather than the drivel social media 'anglers' spout 😉

Thanks

Lewis

Not a problem Wayne, on the face of it yours was a sensible question but ask anyone who runs any "club" there is a hell of a lot that goes on behind the scenes, which is why it's hard (or impossible) to get anyone to put their hands up to be on a committee or in the team.

Hi Andy ,
Have you thought about making it a members only site ? I look at the viewing figures and it's normally 10 guests to 1 member on here. It's a fantastic forum, and most members would im sure pay at least £10 a year for the running costs. Donation done 👍
Hi Wayne, non members, ( guests ) can only view certain sections of the site, not all of it. Not sure which ones they can and cannot, maybe one of the admins can tell us. 👍

Hi everyone,

Over the past couple of years we’ve had times where members/visitors to the site have made an additional voluntary donation to BFW that goes towards our running costs, mainly the annual web server hosting. The yearly hosting fee is quite hefty as I insist on using a UK based business who have hosted the site for the past 20 years. Their support is in the UK and have always been very reliable (touch wood).

A few members have recently made fresh donations for 2024 so I thought it would be a good idea to create a new thread in case any others felt like helping out with the hosting fees for this year.

If anyone feels they would like to help out this year, here is the link:

https://barbel.co.uk/product/donate-to-bfw/

Anyone who has made a donation to the site gets a different membership rank which shows as "Senior Member and Supporter".

Many thanks in advance for any support.

Hi men

I was musings today with Andy that the site is reflecting the fishing being done these days , with more questions on carp type baits and rigs relating to barbel fishing . Not a complaint as new subjects being posted with fresh stuff popping up all the time , and catch reports still coming in , but that also reflects the rivers with a stronger population .

Hope to be back on the river one day , might even be this season 😉

Cheers Hatter

Done 😉
I've been a member for a fair few years and remember the old bfw with some of the regular characters back then.
I do think it's better now with far less 'Bickering' 😁

Derek

Easiest way to see what non-members cannot see is to log out and look at the forums marked private - these are definitely not on offer.

To save you the job it's River Reports,
Social Board, Predation Issues, Swim Analysis and the two Technical Help forums.

Plus Events and Announcements, and all of the Archived River Reports.
