Which Acolyte rod

I wouldn’t use any acolyte float rods for ledgering as they are too delicate for leads, even the specimen. Link ledgering is fine, but I don’t think that’s the method you want to use?

I also wouldn’t use chimera no1 or MT’s float rods, way too strong imo, unless you are targeting big fish.

There are rods perform well for both tasks, my favourite is hardy marksman avon rod, brilliant float rods but equally brilliant for ledgering. A cheap option would be Korum allrounder rod, does both job well.

Yes. Huanzhou is right.
I did a review of the mega cheap Korum all rounder because its one of the few rods I felt you could get away with both actions. I'm happy to use it all the time for levering, but have other great options for float fishing mainly on large rivers at 14ft.

However, if money was tight. It would do both jobs.

Hello,
I’m after some advice regarding buying one of the above, to be used for float and light ledgering on a small still water and also on small rivers, please.

Thanks for reading.

If you could confirm a budget it would help people to make the appropriate suggestions. Dunno about others, but I was assuming you've got the price of a new Acolyte to spend (about £235.00), to be split between two rods, but I might be wrong.

Talkin' korum rods, I got a korum opportunist rod, after using it one time I noticed my line was seriously kinked.
I checked things out and it was the guides, they were the minimal things which had a kind of thin metal liner. Anyhow, the liner had got slices in a couple of them and I was lucky my line hadn't been cut off. I sent the rod back for replacement. I got the replacement out of the bag and low and behold it had slices/slits in the tin type liner also. I returned it and got a refund.
I've used several of their rods and my opinion of them isn't a good one.

Forgot to me tion, a chap I know had the exact same issue with a korum barbel rod. He returned it to AD where had had got it from and swapped it out for another. The manager came and told the assistant to check the guides and the assistant went along the rod running their finger nail around each guide before saying "this ones ok".
Apparently it had been a comon problem!
