Where to fish on the Tidal Trent??

Wayne Glossop

Senior Member
I'm off for another night on the Trent tomorrow does anyone know of anywhere that's fishing well on the tidal I went to Dunham last week and blanked.
Thanks

Now if I post a few areas on the Trent on here that I regularly fish, it would spoil it not onlY for myself but quite a few others. Thats why I cant see many replies Wayne.

Yeah I understand that pal just know it ant been fishing well in places.

I think that's always going to depend on exactly who you get your information from. I know folks that have had outstanding days on the tidal Trent when all the reports would suggest that it's fishing poorly. You aren't too likely to see chapter and verse of the wheres, whens and hows on the forums though.

I know a lad that I fished with as a kid who is a regular on the tidal. He doesn't give me the kind of detailed information you are looking for and I wouldn't dream of asking.

Wayne thats the pleasure of learning for oneself. I went to a spot on Friday for the second time & blanked again. I will try again in due course - emphasis here is to try.

I then packed up & moved to another area & had a few - painfully slow in the day & thru hard work it turned better at dusk onwards.

Just get out there & give it a go. Lots of very likely places other than the obvious Dunham Bridge & Cromwell Weir.

Use your watercraft & I'm am sure you'll get your just rewards.

Cheers, Jon

Hi Jon yeah I fished at Collingham last night near the conveyors there was quite alot of fisherman there maybe 15 from what I could see and I stayed up all through the night. Played about with the tactics i.e longer hooklengh, longer hair, smaller hooks etc. But all I got was an eel but listening for bite alarms I never heard one. I think the fishing anywhere at the minute is slow we need a great big downpour for a few days and it will be fantastic I'm sure of it.

Hi Wayne,

I have not fished Collingham in the few years I have been on the tidal. 15 anglers around me fishing on the Trent is my definition of hell - actually, hell might be a more favourable place. Sometimes, August can be a strange time & good on you for trying so hard to try & swing things in your favour. Autumn coming round very soon & all fish around will be getting their heads down.

Do try & get away from the crowds, I cannot stress that enough. Definitely in need of a downpour, for me I reckon that three weeks of rain would be a good start to saturate the ground. My construction friends do not share my considerations mind...

Try posting these kind of reports in the Tidal Trent Section. Sometimes, contributing on a river thread, no specifics, conditions, flows, colour, bits of interest, people might open up a bit; but very rarely would this be seen for all to see.

Hope this helps,

Cheers, Jon
