Good chance it is an orfe.

Would like to brighten up the photo to get a better look at the anal fin and such to check it's not a roach/bream hybrid.

Looks like a golden orfe to me too. A heron has had a pop at it too. Wouldn't be easy for an orfe to avoid predators in a river.

Jamies fish at the top does look like a Golden Orfe, but the picture from Stephen is an Ide, there are a few of them getting in the Trent (escapees from commercials!), I caught one about 2lb last year on the float - frightened the life out of me as when I first saw it in the water I thought it was a huge Roach!

Stephen Bond, Did you take that picture? thats a cracking shot if you did mate :)

I'm also in the rudd camp though it is a good un it might be a rudd bream hybrid.

We were catching a few rudd on my Severn syndicate a few years ago, they could have been leftover or escaped pike livebaits.

Same fish, different name. As you say Paul, more decorative strains have been developed for ornamental show fish. Not as popular now as they once were as pond fish, but still available.

Cheers, Dave.
