Knepp is incredible, 92% decline in Nightingales nationally and they went from zero pairs to 40+ pairs on the estate!

In isolation these initiatives should be applauded, but as a whole I’m not too convinced of the motives of some others? Maybe I’m just too pessimistic? But we don’t have a good past record of achievement's and believe that we have gone too far in the wrong direction as a species, to be able to change our ways of greed and destruction?

Only just clocked this Neil, the above kind'a reminds me of the attitude of many anglers towards otters, cormorants, herons etc etc.

I think the majority of anglers appear to want to kill anything that poses a threat to a fish, but same as the peregines those fish eating predators are only trying to survive.

Fish predation by birds and mammals has a minimal impact on fish stocks compared to water pollution in my opinion. The tiny river Teme had a good few otters along it’s length in the 1990’s but the river was literally full of fish.
Pollution is our enemy, not Otters and Cormorants etc. in my humble opinion.

If we was to focus on one thing? Then pollution is the worst single factor, but when we take into consideration all the factors together ie predation, climate, pollution? We are in for a real s#*t storm! Unfortunately they all go hand in hand and will need to be dealt with and managed collectively I feel.
