I'm not really sure this is appropriate and please forgive me if it isn't.
Ian. I sat and watched Cancer take my Father in just three months, he was 63. For a long time after his death, I couldn't get the picture of him laying in a hospice bed out of my mind, and thought that's how I'd always remember him. But time is a great healer, and now those thoughts are no longer with me. Now I remember the good times we had together. He wasn't an angler, but without him I would never have become a fisherman.
Difficult times lay ahead, and losing someone so close will always be hard. If you get the chance, go fishing. It won't change anything, but it will give you a release from the pain you're going through at the moment and give you something else to focus on for a short while.
If you live anywhere near Leicestershire/Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire I'll stand you a day ticket on the river. We won't catch anything, but just being out there is sometimes enough.
