What are you favourites hooks?

I'm interested to know what everyone's favourite hooks are and in what sizes...

I'll kick things off with the drennan wide gape specialist in a size 8 or 6. I use them because they are cheap and sharp (and I'm one of those things too...). They are quite small for their quotes size

Looking for a good hook in size 2 and 4 if anyone has any recommendation

Bank Tackle for me in a size 10 , never let me down

I've used the size 10 wide gaps for a couple of years now and can't fault them.

My choice, Pallatrax Gripz, the follow on from Pallatrax "the hook". Superb hooks, no barb, ridges instead, so comply with fishery rules. Super strong, and mega sharp. 👍

Size 6 & 4
Cheap sharp and strong.

Of interest there’s a complete new range of Drennan Specialist Hooks due to land, including a new Barbel Hook with a beaked point.

Current choices:

Barbel - Korda Wide Gape.
Meat - Original Partridge Barbel hook
Chub and Perch - Kamasan B983 Specialist.

Welcome to the forum John. I’m another fan of Gardner target hooks but tend to use size 8 or 10 so can’t comment on the sizes you’re asking about. I’ve used talon tips in larger sizes for carp/cats and they’re sharp and strong.

I bought a job lot of Owner hooks in various sizes and patterns a decade or so ago, thousands of them! Pretty sure they'll see me through. No barbless ones though so on barbless only waters it's another nod to Bank Tackle.

I’ve used the Bank Tackle wide gapes in size 8 and 10 and found them ideal when I need a big hook. My favoured hook in 10 and 12 though is the Guru SWMG, I’ve found these to be excellent for a few years now.

They are my favourite for maggot/ castor fishing up to say #12- had lots of barbel on them and never straightened one
For pellets / boilies I switch to Gripz in 12,10 and 8
Bank tackle wide gapes are good too but I prefer Gripz.
Bigger ones (2 and 4) if I’m fishing bread happy with Drennan Super specialists
