Hi Everyone,

Firstly, apologies for the break in service! I'm afraid our server was compromised and as a result had to be taken offline.

The OS has been reinstalled and the last full backup from a few days ago has been restored successfully. Thank goodness for the backup system!!! Obviously threads and posts from recent days have gone.

Moving forward I'm going to invest in additional security for the server so expect more 'marketing' from me as I need top up the coffers to pay for it!

Thanks for your patience and apologies once again.

Regards,

Andy F

I should mentioned that we expect some further down time as the reconfigured server is bound to suffer from some problems. Hopefully the disruption won't be too extensive....

Cheers,

Andy

The passwords are encrypted in the database so it's unlikely. If anyone wants me to change their password for them, just drop me an email at andyf@barbel.co.uk. Or you can change it yourself in the User CP when you're logged in.

We suspect that it was one of other sites on the server that caused the problem.

Regards,

Andy

Hi men,

Through Facebook and txt people found out what was happening , just a bit of patient was needed . But as mentioned when it's gone it shows that it's a guilty pleasure for a few people :D

As much as I like some of the FaceBook groups, there is no real substitute for a proper forum such as the one we have here :D

Of course, BFW is much more than a forum too!

A long and overdue thank you to Andy and the team is in order.

Many thanks one and all :)

Stephen

Yep its good to have you back again....

It totally astonishes me how you guys sort these things out Andy...when my laptop throws a wobbly I haven't got a clue how to sort it :D Then again, I was a bit miffed when they invented ball point pens....I really liked my old fountain pen. Struggled to fill it of course....don't like the techy side of things :D:D

Well done Andy, and good luck with the changeover.

Cheers, Dave.

To be honest, I'd don't fix these things myself, it's way over my head. I just sit there sweating while someone else at the data centre does their thing!

Cheers,

Andy F
