Weight of Korum fast mat and supa lite fast mat

I normally use the drennan specialist unhooking mat, but decided to get a lighter unhooking mat for roving. Decided to get a Korum supa lite fast mat. But noticed some websites are putting the older fast mat on sell, I think the only difference between the two versions are weight. AnD I am wondering if any one know what’s the weight of Korum fast mat and supa lite fast mat? Also, does the mattress thick and firm enough for sitting on it? Thanks
 
Hi, my Fast mat weighs in at 2lb 8ozs.
Sitting on it? That's fairly subjective. Yes you can but it's obviously not a very big mat .
 
I just bought the Fast Mat from Future Fishing in Farndon for the bargain price of £25. it weighs 2lbs 7oz, so just over a kilo, and the mattress is about 3" thick when doubled over. Not sure I would want to sit on it all day but good for a short roving session I would say.
 
Mine fits into the back of my fox duralite chair for carrying. A bit of bungee chord helps keep it in place. I usually stick a couple of bank sticks in as well, with a spoon net hanging off it.

Thanks guys. 2lb 7,8oz is not bad. And it is definitely lighter than my current one. 3” is ok to sit on I guess, I won’t sit on it all the time anyway.

Yes, the older fast mat is bargain price now. I know the later supa lite version is lighter, but I want to find out if it worth the extra 10-20 pound?
 
I don't know what the newer version weighs, but I cant see that it can be much more than a few ounces lighter. And I can only imagine that it is lighter because it is thinner- I may be wrong but its hard to see where else they can save weight on an item like this. If you are planning to sit on it, you have to decide if it is worth paying more for some thing marginally lighter, but possibly less comfortable. Only you can decide that.
Mine was a super bargain price- six quid, unused, car boot.

It is lighter because the new version uses this supa lite material, and Korum claims it is lighter than older one. The dimensions of the two versions are same, so I assume it is not thinner.

According to this official video, the new version is 50 percent lighter, so it is only 600gram…
 
In that case perhaps that's best for you if weight is most important. Although once you catch a fish and soak it with water it will be heavier and you might not be so keen to sit on it.

Yeah, good point. I will try to sit on the dry side, is there will be one.
 
It would be good if someone can independently confirm the weight of the new mat. I just checked the weight of the "fast mat" mat itself, without the sides, and it is 600 grams..

Once you’ve had a fish in it and especially if you pour water over the fish then it’s guaranteed both sides of the mat will be wet. Unless you are fishing on a flat bank I’m np not sure it’ll be a good seat either, I think you’ll spend more time trying not to slip off as the material is quite slippery as you would expect from a waterproof fabric.
 
I am forever trying to cut down on carrying weight and stuff I don't really need. I seem to have found the solution in the Drennan specimen net bag, in green of course not the gaudy match colours😑
In that I can stuff all I need for a session, fold up net, fold up stool with back rest being the Shaky Noddy Mk 2, roll mat flask, and all essential bits. I could probably dispense with the stool, but on flat ground its great and very comfy, and above all easy to get out of being of a certain age.
Rod (s) are topped and tailed with tip protectors and bank sticks Drennan handle are all wrapped up in the protectors. I have a Velcro sling if needed.
I find quivers useless when roving ...a few years back I got a high quality fishing vest, multi pockets from a charity shop, it really is great for hook rigs, small camera wallet etc ....and serves two purposes as clothing and a bits thingy and giving the appearance that I actually know what I am doing.☺
 
I have a Shaky noddy MK2 and I was surprised at how comfortable it is. It's obviously not the best seat in the world but better than crouching or sitting on the ground. I can crouch and I can sit on the ground. I'm just not very good at getting up again in a hurry.

I was thinking of sitting on the outer shell with the mat underneath. May not be a good idea but could give it a try.

I am actually using a stool now, those three legs tripod one, so I can put into my rod bag. But I want to cut that out as well.
