Water temperatures

I think in very cold weather light conditions do play a part as it's often bright and sunny. In my own experience dusk seems the best time for a bite on these days although getting a bait under a raft or similar may work.

Heres a question for those with thermometers, is the water warmer near weirs than it is on a normal flow, i only ask as my mates a bit of a brandy buff(or bore you could say) and always swirls his brandy to "warm" it. Obviously we're only talking a small matter of difference.??
