Does anyone take river temps, something I used to but not for a few years, and no longer have a thermometer. So does anyone recommend a particular thermometer?

Agree really. If you’ve made the effort to go to the river you might as well fish. I generally go by the rule of if I want to fish and the air temp when I get there is going to be 3 or 4 degrees or above I’ll go. I don’t mind if it’s going to get colder while I’m there I’ll just pack up if I get too cold but if it’s below that before I leave the house I won’t bother as I know I’ll just be freezing as soon as I get there as i suffer with bad circulation anyway so will just be too uncomfortablei don't see the point.. I used to do it and all it did was raise or lower my expectation... often being proved wrong !
